Get the job you want by handwriting a thank you note

It’s graduation season. Time for commencement speeches. Time to give out advice about how to use your degree to land the job you are seeking.

At a recent graduation speech, a Vice President of a large pharmaceutical company told the graduates this:

“I have never hired someone that did not write a hand-written thank you note”

Advantage: you – if you handwrite a thank you note.

Make sure your thank you note includes details about your prospective job that you learned at your interview.

Thank your interviewer(s).

And (most importantly) ask for the job.

Can I Get My Invitations Blank?

Do you want your invitations blank?  With no wording?

We can do that – just don’t put any wording in the “wording” field on the order form at PolyGraphics.com. Or just put “no wording” as the wording.

We will apply a 10% discount to your order if you request no wording.

But, first, let me try to talk you out of it.

Are you worried about how long it will take your order to get to you?

We’ve got some really fast options for you:

1) With a RUSH option we print and ship the same day (M-F, orders placed before 10am Eastern U.S. time), or next day (Sun-Thur, orders placed after 10am Eastern US time). [Typical total time between order and ship - less than 30 hours]

2) Our normal process – within 24 hours (M-F) your order is posted for your review. When we receive your approval we print and ship the next business day, where a business day is Mon-Fri. [Typical total time between order and ship - less than 72 hours]

3) Are you sure about your wording? Order with No Draft. We’ll prepare and ship your order the next business day. [Typical total time between order and ship - less than 48 hours]

Are you not sure about your party details?

Review the list above – we prepare and ship your order very quickly. If you order before you know all the details, then let us know what to add or change, we’ll have a draft prepared and your order printed and shipped speedily.

Can your printer print on heavy card stock?

Our standard invitation is 5″ x 7″ on 80lb cover paper. This paper is heavy, like an index card or business card, and may not go through your printer. Also, your printer is probably optimized for 8 1/2″ x 11″ 20lb office paper. Can it handle the size and weight of an invitation?

Worried that we won’t get the wording right?

The draft process at PolyGraphics is designed to assure you that what you requested and what you see is as close as possible to what you will get. You’ll love to see and be able to comment about your order when you review the design we’ve prepared for you.

Secrets to Stopping a Speeding Car

Much has been said lately about unintended acceleration – and with Toyota’s recent problems it helps to know what to do it caught in a car that is moving fast.

First:  Use Your Brakes

Your brakes are more powerful than the engine. Even if your accelerator foot is glued to the floor, applying the brakes will stop your car.

Next: Shift into Neutral

No power to the wheels means you will slow down eventually

Finally: Turn the engine off

For the same reason as above, if your engine isn’t getting power to the wheels, you will not continue accelerating.

Yikes! We Goofed

Even though we proofread every order, check for grammar errors, check for print quality, and double count envelopes, we still make mistakes sometimes.

Invitation for a shopping party - Mall Party Invitation

The party invitation should have said “Beth” not “Bet”.

And we shipped the invitations to the customer. Yikes!

As Poly Graphics always does, we admit our mistake and fix it as quickly as possible. Luckily there was enough time for the corrected invitations to arrive and be delivered to guests before the RSVP date got too close.

We’re human, we make mistakes, but we admit them, fix them, and move on.

All orders placed at Poly Graphics include these for no extra charge:

  1. Free Proofs
  2. A personal web page to review and approve your order
  3. 24 business hours* or less draft preparation
  4. Ability to fully customize your order – fonts, colors, graphics – all can be changed the way you like them.

Invitation and note card orders also include:

  1. Free Envelopes (and we always add an extra or two)
  2. Proofreading to make sure you include date, time, place, and RSVP information for each invitation
  3. High quality card stock (no flimsy paper)

Be careful when shopping for your party invitations – not all online invitation merchants include these items in their price!

*The business days at Poly Graphics are Monday thru Friday, with exceptions only for major United States holidays. If you order on a Monday your order will be ready to review within 24 hours – or on Tuesday. If you order on a Friday your draft will be ready before the end of Monday.

Ordering over the internet has many advantages and a few drawbacks.

An advantage: Shop anytime 24 hours a day / 7 days a week in your pajamas or whatever you are comfortable in.

A disadvantage: Waiting to receive your purchase.

At Poly Graphics we do our best to get your order to you as soon as possible.

With our RUSH option we can print and ship in the same day! (see RUSH details here)

But our normal order process is also very quick – your order is drafted for your approval within 24 business hours. For instance, if you ordered today, Wednesday, at 2pm, your order will be ready to review by 2pm on Thursday. If there are no changes and you approve, we will print and ship your order on Friday – less than 48 hours after you order.
