creativity spark

We all have times when our creativity level is low. When an idea is needed, yet none are there. It could be because we’re tired, or distracted or just plain uninspired.

What do you do when your juice is low?

Ian Laurie wrote a post recently asking for suggestions to get ideas of what to write about on his blog.

Some ideas to break out of a creative slump:

  1. Daydream
  2. Talk a walk
  3. Spend a few minutes searching/stumbling upon other sites for something that is interesting or needs more explanation. (limit your time surfing!)
  4. Wander around the bookstore or library for ideas
  5. Doodle
  6. Think about a problem that you recently solved and see if the solution applies to others
  7. Silence. Don’t contribute until something moves you (caution – being silent for too long can be detrimental)
  8. Look for old solutions that need updating and re-think, re-do them
  9. Use a creativity tool / whack pack
  10. Invent a typical customer/reader and imagine one of their problems that you can solve
  11. Phone a friend (again, limit your time)

Do you have any more ideas?

Bob

P.S. The reason this list has only 11 ways is that I ran out of ideas about how to get creative – I suspect this list can be much longer.

At Poly Graphics we have graphic designers work on your order.

Our designers place your text, size the graphics, and color the design to your specifications.

It’s not a computer that centers your text. You don’t have to be the person that places everything where you’d like it. We will happily take your instructions for layout, but they are not needed. The Poly Graphics designer does the work for you.

We also proofread your invitation wording. We look for common grammar errors, spelling, punctuation, and extra spacing that you may have accidentally included when your wording was entered on our order form. If we find something questionable, we’ll let you know. You get personal service with every order you place with Poly Graphics.

Not only do we have a designer giving you personal attention when you order something from Poly Graphics, but we also print a draft copy of your order to be used to proofread the actual printed product. We look again for questionable grammar, spelling, and punctuation, but we also check the colors as well as the position of the text and graphics. Then we look to make sure the printer printed what we thought it should have. There are many checks that your order goes through before Poly Graphics sends it to you.

I hope this gives you an appreciation for the care that is put into every order we receive.

Thanks for letting Poly Graphics be a part of your celebration.

Many of our customers are in a hurry to get their invitations. Often the event is less than three weeks away and the invitations should have been delivered to their guests yesterday.

Poly Graphics now offers a Rush option that helps you get your invitations even quicker. The Rush option is available on our order page, under where we ask for your shipping  information. It looks like this:

rush_option

Order before 10:00a.m. (Eastern US time) and your order ships the same day!

Orders received after 10:00a.m. are drafted as soon as possible and ship the next day.

Full Rush option details are available here.

When we receive a Rush order it is drafted immediately – it moves to the top of the drafting queue. We email you and call you when the draft is ready for your review. After you review and approve your Rush order, we print and ship it as soon as possible. Your shipping method determines when you receive your invitations – but the rush option assures that the time spent at Poly Graphics is as short as possible.

If you are in a hurry this is a great way to get your custom printed invitations quickly.

Thanks for the opportunity to celebrate with you!

There are three different kinds of flaps on envelopes.

Business, Pointed and Square. Pointed and Square are also known as  “Baronial” and “A”

Square, or "A"

Business Envelope

Envelopes are described by their size and flap.

For example, if you wanted to buy pointed flap envelopes for 5″ by 7″ invitations, you would request an “7 BAR” envelope.

If you wanted a square flap envelope instead, ask for an  “A-7″ envelope.

Poly Graphics uses a 7 BAR envelope for most orders. We also have an upgrade to an  A-7 lined envelope, with linings available in Gold, Silver, and Red.
