Expecting a delivery last week, I noticed that it was shipping via FedEx Home to our office.

FedEx Home usually delivers late in the day – when people are expected to be home from school and work.

But my package was getting delivered to work – it was very likely that I wouldn’t be at work when it was delivered.

Well, I wasn’t.

The delivery came after 6:00 p.m. I wasn’t at the office. Jane, our neighbor took the package for me.

Here’s the amazing part.

The office and my house are about 3 miles apart. Our FedEx Home guy’s route covers both our office and our house.

He drove to our house to tell me that he dropped our package off at our office!

The FedEx guy knows me, knows my family, and took the extra effort to let me know about the package.

I am very impressed. What awesome service!

I hope I’m not the only one that has told the local office how great he is.

P.S. Our US Mailman Bob is a great guy too.

P.P.S. Have you had a great experience with FedEx, or UPS, or the US Post Office?

Your invitation order from Poly Graphics gets the utmost attention by a designer.

A designer who reads your wording & looks for anything that is missing.

A designer that reviews your text for spelling and omissions.

A designer that formats your wording in the font that you select on the design that you have chosen so that it looks the very best that it can.

A designer that takes the time to make your invitation wonderful.

But we may have different ideas of what “wonderful” means.

Your order will be carefully drafted, then placed on a personalized page where you can review what we’ve done.

So if you don’t like what our designer has created, let us know. We’ll change it until you like it*.

There is no automatic, machine generated drafting process at Poly Graphics. And we like it that way. We hope you like it that way too.

* We will work with you on your draft until you like it – which means several versions of your wording and graphics. Normally there is no extra charge for preparing drafts, but we may ask for an additional design fee if we prepare an unreasonable amount of drafts and no conclusion is in sight. We’re here to serve you, but we need to feed our kids.

As a confirmed Parrotthead, I couldn’t help but watch Jimmy Buffett’s Concert from the Gulf Coast that was on CMT Sunday night, July 11th.

Jimmy played in front of about 25,000 fans in an effort to show that the coast is clear. The show brought people to the Gulf that had been staying away because of the BP oil spill.

From the TV broadcast the beaches looked clear and clean and inviting. Jimmy himself said that he took a dip in the water and was going surfing the next day.

CMT did a great job – offering 90 commercial free minutes to Jimmy Buffet & Friends. Most of his friends were The Coral Reefer Band, with guests Jesse Winchester and Allen Toussaint. Originally scheduled to appear were Kenny Chesney and The Zac Brown Band, but a potential storm surge delayed the beach front concert and neither could make the rescheduled date.

Jimmy, as always, was great with the crowd. He played most of the expected songs – (Margaritaville, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Come Monday, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Pirate Looks at Forty) and a few lesser known, but beach or gulf-related. His sideman Mac McAnally sang the hit he penned for Kenney Chesney “Back Where I Come From”.

From the looks of it, a good time was had by all.

Thanks Jimmy, Thanks CMT,

P.S. Been to 21 Buffett concerts in 20 years. How bout you?

P.P.S. The concert sure made me want to go to the beach!

If the heat is getting to you and you’re near Apex, North Carolina, a great place to go is Pelican’s Snoballs & Homemade Ice Cream. There are also Pelican’s in Garner, Cary, and Clayton, North Carolina.

For $1.50 you can get an icy snoball in about a zillion flavors. We’ve tried a bunch of them, but not Dill Pickle (not sure I want to try it!)

Technically they sell “New Orleans Style Shaved Ice”. It takes a little while to get your snoball because they actually shave the ice for your treat right in front of you. Sometimes we add a scoop of ice cream to the middle to really help us cool down.

Pelican’s is a tasty treat for a hot summer day

P.S. We’re not connected with Pelican’s, we just like their stuff

P.P.S. If you’re near Damascus Maryland, try the Jimmie Cone. mmmmmm. If not, please support your local ice cream store!

We like to recommend and support businesses that have provided us good service and good products. In the spirit of “sharing the love” we’ll mention them here occasionally.

When ordering invitations from Poly Graphics you have a choice of two different types of paper.

Our normal smooth paper or our linen paper.

These photos give you an idea of what the texture is like for each of these types of paper. These are zoomed-in photos – the smooth is much smoother to the touch than this photo looks. And the linen paper has the “woven” look that you see here, but the weave is not as big as it looks in this photo.

The linen paper is nice, has a nice feel, and comes with matching envelopes. Linen invitations and linen note cards cost 10% more than smooth invitations and smooth note cards. The linen paper and linen envelopes cost more to stock, that’s the reason for the 10% upcharge.

Each type of paper is also available in white or ivory (off-white, or natural) colors.

Let us know which you like best for your invitation order.

P.S. The linen paper works great for both formal invitations and informal invitations. We’ve done kids laser tag party invitations on linen paper and they look great.
